James DeBarge Comes Clean About Secret Child with Janet Jackson

It appears that things are getting nasty for Ms. Jackson!

For decades its been alleged that Janet Jackson has a secret child tucked away somewhere, and majority of the public is well aware of the rumor.  However, in more recent news her ex-husband James DeBarge made claims of said child in a recent clip of WeTv series’s Growing Up Hip Hop.
“I’m tired of the secrecy. I’m tired of the truth not coming forward, and people being a coward when it comes to it. And I thought it was wise for me to speak out now because it needs to be addressed,” DeBarge said.

DeBarge, (53) eloped with the “Miss You Much” singer back in 1984, she was 18 and he was 21.  The couple split after a year of marriage and their marriage was declared null.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t know, I was under the impression that there was no baby, and I wanted to believe it’s not true. But it is.” explains Debarge to his 26-year-old daughter Kristinia, who asked him about an article stating he had a secret daughter with Janet Jackson. For years The DeBarge Family has been semi vocal about the alleged child that’s floating around out there. Back in a 2007 article and interview with VIBE magazine they addressed the long rumor and mentioned that the baby girl had supposedly been raised by Janet’s older sister Rebbie. In May of 2001 Janet told VIBE in her featured cover story that “they say the kid’s in Europe or that one of my brothers or sisters is raising it, but not, I’ve never had a child.”

The DeBarge bombshell is perfect timing as Janet and her current husband, Wissam are currently pregnant with their first child. In April of this year Jackson announced that she was postponing her Unbreakable Would Tour and “planning a family.”

“My husband and I are planning a family so I’m going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you can, try and understand it’s important that I do this now, I have to rest up, doctor’s orders, but I have not forgotten about you, I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can,”Jackson said at the time.

Janet hadn’t confirmed the pregnancy until early October when photos of her popped up on the internet and she did an exclusive with People to confirm.

As for her “child” with Debarge. If a child is out there, it’s only a matter of time before the world is made aware of. Furthermore, it seems like The DeBarge Family is set out to find said child.  Making the “rumor” known publicly on network television will only continue to light more fires in the Jackson forest.
