Gabrielle Union isn’t happy with Mary Jane Paul

Gabrielle Union is claiming that BET is screwing her out of her money. According to TMZ she’s being forced to do more episodes than she agreed upon per season, and for a lower price.

Union states in a new lawsuit that BET is trying to cram 20 episodes of her hit show Being Mary Jane into season 4 in stead of splitting them into two seasons. She says the network executives promised her that there would never be more than 13 episodes in a season, although her contract allows a maximum of 26 episodes per season. She says that was merely a standard clause of all Viacom contracts, and BET had orally promised they’d never have the financial means to shoot that many episodes in a single season.

In her claim Union says BET is trying to cut production cost down by doing a 2-for-1, being her contract states she gets a pay raise from $150k per episode to $165k a episode in season 5.

She’s currently suing BET for breach of her contract and seeking more than $1 mil in damages. She also wants her contract amended immediately to reflect the oral agreement of 13 max episodes.

In addition, Being Mary Jane season 4 begins in January with a new plot twist.  MJ is in a new city with a new place to call work, while actor Michel Ealy will portray a former colleague of hers from CNN.
